Introduction to Sustainable Living

What is meant by a sustainable lifestyle?

It encompasses many disciplines and has different meanings for most people.  In general, it pursues a lifestyle of preserving our natural resources and the impact we have on people and the environment.

Why bother to pursue a sustainable lifestyle?  The back-to-basics trend might be an answer to the excesses of our times. The joy of understanding the “nature of things” and our own particular relationship to them brings us back to our roots.

By incorporating the following sustainable practices:

  • Permaculture
  • Solar energy
  • Energy efficient building systems
  • Addition of farm animals
  • Intelligent land use

We are creating a property that at its very heart is becoming self-sufficient and self-reliant.  We intentionally varied our means of heating, cooling, water, and electrical power.  We have developed back-up resources for cloudy days, water contamination, power outages, interrupted food supply, and lack of fuel.  At the same time, we have created an oasis to refresh our minds and spirits.

If you are compelled to return back to the land and nature to supply your needs, SSNGA can help develop a plan.  We chose to develop and implement our plan so that we can be one year early versus one minute late.

Utilizing well water, you can have the ability to use city water or, at the change of a valve, use well water. This gives independence from city utilities.
